Nutella
For my Chocolate lovers! When I was in the boarding school in Belgium for lunch, we had Nutella over a slice of toasted bread. So now, I decided Today to make my own Nutella. It’s healthier and homemade without using massive of dose of sugar. All you need 3 ingredients plus water.
Homemade Nutella
1 cup hazelnuts
1 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
1/4 cup maple syrup or coconut nectar ( you can replace the maple syrup or coconut nectar with 12 dates)
1/4 cup of water ( add more water if needed to make it loose)
1/2 tsp vanilla, optional
*IF YOUR USING THE MEDJOOL DATES Soak dates in hot water for 5-15 minutes depending on how soft they are and instead of 1/4 cup of water, use 2/3 -1 cup of water with the dates.
Description

Preheat oven to 350F Place hazelnuts in a baking dish in single layer and roast for 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes. Also when you see the skin start to come off they are perfect. Place the nuts in the food processor and blend for 10 minutes or until they turn into hazelnut butter. I usually stop the food processor every 3 minutes to scrape the sides. Add the cocoa powder and the maple syrup or coconut nectar, blend for another minute. In the end, I add water 2/3 to 1 cup to your preference. Service on crackers or 100% whole wheat bread.
We all have a different taste! Make it yours.
“According to Dr. Mercola, before you pop out to the store to get a jar of Nutella, take a peek at what’s inside. The advertisement talks about hazelnuts and a hint of cocoa, but neglects to mention refined palm oil and a massive dose of sugar. The label claims there are 8.5 grams of sugar in a 15-gram serving.”
