One of my best friend in Ohio, Sally loved to go to the Kentucky Derby held annually on the first Saturday in May in Louisville, Kentucky so, that same weekend she would invite us for dinner, and for dessert we had a Southern Tradition Kentucky Chocolate Derby Pie. It originated in Kentucky at the Melrose Inn.  So, if you love chocolate then you got to try this recipe.  My favorite is indeed Kentucky chocolate derby pie of all time.

1 stick of butter, melted
1/3 cup of flour
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chop pecans
1 cup coconut sugar
2-3 Tbsp Kentucky Bourbon (Basil Hayden)
1 tsp of vanilla
1/4 tsp of salt
Using the blender for the above ingredients

Serve with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream

Preheat the oven to 325 F. Pour the mixture into the unbaked pie crust. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes, or until the filling is set.  Set the pie on a wire rack and let cool before slicing.  Just amazing!
